Acara penghargaan tahunan dari Television Academy (Emmy) Awards ke-72 untuk program televisi Primetime di Amerika Serikat digelar Minggu (20/9/2020) malam waktu Amerika Serikat atau Senin mulai pukul 07.00 WIB.
Schitt’s Creek menang sebagai serial komedi terbaik, diiringi dengan kemenangan seluruh aktor dan aktris pemeran utama dan pendukungnya di kategori Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress dan Outstanding Supporting Actor/Actress In A Comedy Series.
Tak hanya itu, serial Pop TV itu juga memenangi Outstanding Writing for Comedy Series melalui sang kreator, Daniel Levy.
Sementara itu, serial HBO dengan perolehan nominasi terbanyak tahun ini, Watchmen, berhasil menyabet piala untuk kategori Outstanding Limited Series serta Outstanding Writing for A Limited Series.
Disusul oleh serial HBO lain dari kategori drama yaitu Succession yang menang sebagai sutradara dan penulis terbaik tahun ini.
Serial drama Killing Eve dari BBC America,berhasil mengalahkan The Mandalorian (Disney+) dan The Crown (Netflix sebagai serial drama terbaik tahun ini.
