Critics Choice Awards 2022 kembali digelar pada Minggu (13/03/2022) di Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles. Untuk tahun ini, film yang dibintangi oleh Benedict Cumberbatch, The Power of the Dog, berhasil dinobatkan sebagai Film Terbaik.
Film ini berhasil unggul dari Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, Tick, Tick...Boom!, dan juga West Side Story.
Di hari yang sama, film The Power of the Dog juga menjadi Film Terbaik di ajang BAFTA Awards 2022.
Salah satu hal yang mengejutkan di ajang penghargaan ini adalah aktor asal Korea Selatan, Lee Jung Jae, berhasil membawa pulang piala dari Critics’s Choice Awards ke-27.
Aktor yang membintangi serial Netflix, Squid Game itu berhasil memenangi penghargaan sebagai Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Dengan penghargaan yang didapatnya itu, Lee Jung Jae menjadi aktor pertama dari Korea Selatan yang meraih penghargaan itu. Lee Jung Jae sukses mengalahkan nomine lain yaitu Sterling K Brown (This Is us), Mike Colter (Evil), Brian Cox (Succession), Billy Porter (Pose), dan juga Jeremy Strong (Successsion).
Tidak hanya Lee Jung Jae, drama Squid Game juga memenangi kategori Best Foreign Language Series dan unggul dari Money Heist, Lupin, Narcos: Mexico, Call My Agent!, dan Acapulco.
