American Music Awards (AMA) 2021 kembali digelar! Pihak penyelenggara telah mengumumkan sederet musisi dunia yang berhasil menjadi nomine untuk tahun ini.
Dari daftar nominasi yang dirilis, musisi muda Olivia Rodrigo berhasil memimpin perolehan nominasi. Di AMA 2021, Olivia berhasil mendapatkan tujuh nominasi. Setelah itu, disusul The Weeknd dengan enam nominasi.
Olivia dan The Weeknd akan saling bersaing di kategori Artist of The Year dengan sejumlah musisi beken lainnya yaitu Ariana Grande, Drake, Taylor Swift, dan juga grup K-Pop yang kini tengah naik daun, BTS. Sementara itu, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, dan Giveon masing-masing berhasil mendapatkan lima nominasi.
Untuk tahun ini, AMA menghadirkan tiga kategori baru yaitu Favorite Trending Song yang diisi oleh deretan lagu viral di TikTok. Selain itu, ada pula Favorite Gospel Artist serta Favorite Latin Duo or Group.
American Music Awards 2021 rencananya akan digelar pada 21 November 2021 di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles.
