Telah banyak dibahas soal album terbaru milik Ariana Grande berjudul “Positions” yang dirilis 30 Oktober 2020, terutama soal hal-hal “vulgar” yang terkandung di dalamnya.
Sebagian besar lagu dalam album itu disebut-sebut berkaitan erat dengan kisah hubungan antara Ariana dengan sang pacar, Dalton Gomez.
Namun, di balik itu, ternyata ada satu lagu dari album “Positions” yang memiliki cerita sangat pedih. Lagu tersebut adalah Off The Table, yang merupakan karya kolaborasi antara Ariana dengan The Weeknd.
Lirik dalam lagu tersebut bercerita tentang perjalanan seseorang untuk menemukan cinta yang baru, setelah ketiadaan cinta yang sebelumnya. Spekulasi pun muncul bahwa lagu ini ada kaitannya dengan Mac Miller, rapper sekaligus mantan pacar Ariana Grande yang meninggal dunia pada September 2018.
Dalam Off The Table, Ari menyanyikan lirik yang menggambarkan kekhawatirannya yang mungkin tidak akan dapat mencintai orang lain lagi sepeninggal sang mantan.

Di lirik lain, Ariana juga menyampaikan keraguannya pada dirinya sendiri, apakah mungkin dia bisa menemukan cinta yang baru.

Sebelum putus pada Mei 2018, Ariana Grande dan Mac Miller telah menjalin hubungan selama kurang lebih 2,5 tahun. Perpisahan mereka dipicu oleh penyalahgunaan obat terlarang yang dilakukan oleh Miller.
Pada bulan yang sama usai putus dari Miller, Ari sempat berpacaran dengan komedian Pete Davidson.
Mereka bertunangan pada Juni 2018. Namun sebulan setelah kematian Miller akibat overdosis, tepatnya pada Oktober 2018, Ariana Grande memutuskan untuk membatalkan pertunangan tersebut.
