Jennie BLACKPINK akhirnya secara resmi merilis lagu “You & Me” pada 6 Oktober 2023 setelah lagu ini diputarkan selama tur dunia BORN PINK.
“You & Me” adalah single Jennie menyusul “Solo” pada 2018 lalu. Lagu dengan durasi kurang dari 3 menit ini, sebelum rilis di platform streaming musik, sudah lebih dahulu dikenal oleh BLINKS (panggilan untuk fans BLACKPINK) lewat penampilan live Jennie di panggung.
Beda dengan member BLACKPINK lainnya yang memiliki EP solo resmi, seperti Rose dengan R, Lisa dengan LALISA dan Jisoo dengan ME, “You & Me” tadinya adalah lagu yang ‘tidak resmi’, Kawula Muda.
Lagu romansa ini menceritakan tentang kisah cinta yang berapi-api dan tak tergoyahkan seperti dunia hanya milik berdua jika mereka berdansa di bawah sinar bulan.
Bertema dance-pop yang dinamis, “You & Me” dibawakan Jennie sudah secara live pada 15 Oktober 2022 lalu dan akhirnya resmi dirilis atas permintaan penonton usai tur BORN PINK yang telah selesai pada 17 September 2023 lalu.
Seperti mendengar permintaan dari BLINKS, Jennie dan agensinya juga merilis “You & Me” Coachella version seperti yang ia bawakan sebagai headliner festival musim panas tersebut pada April 2023 lalu.
Proyek solo Jennie selain dua lagu solonya tersebut, ia juga baru saja bermain peran dalam serial HBO The Idol yang disutradarai oleh Sam Levinson. Jennie sebagai Dyanne beradu peran dengan Lilly Rose Depp dan Abel Tesfaye.
